Review of Brandywine Living at Seaside

reviewed on: 03/19/2019 by Alvin

The place is safe and comfortable, the staff is excellent, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Quality of food is low. Cooking for so many requirements and tastes is very difficult. I am adjusting and food is getting better.

Nice Facility

So far, Brandywine seems to be good at what they do. My Mother seems to like it. However, I do feel it is very expensive for someone like my mother who does not require any care besides housekeeping and meals. I wish they had a less expensive level for someone like her.

Nice place, not a great fit for us

I thought they did a nice job overall at Brandywine at Seaside Pointe, however it just wasn't a great fit for my loved one. The facility itself was always clean and well kept, and the staff all seemed very friendly. They have all sorts of activities and events going on! Unforuntately it was just a bit too active and busy for my loved one, she does much better in a calm, quiet environment.

My uncle has had a great experience at Brandywine.

My family has had a wonderful experience with Brandywine Senior Living at Seaside Pointe. My uncle, who suffers from Alzheimer's, is being so well cared for there. My dear Aunt has spent the last couple years researching her options, worrying about every detail of his future. The staff at Brandywine, especially Heidi, have held her hand and made the transition as smooth as we could have possibly hoped for. Once he moved in, the only thing left for my Aunt to do was wonder how he was doing when she wasn't there...but Heidi has even helped her with that by communicating frequent updates on how well he is settling in. The staff has learned his habits so quickly and during visits it's been obvious that he is safe and cared about. My aunt has finally been able to relax after all these years.

Heroes Work Here

reviewed on: 12/11/2020 by Rhonda Kane

My Aunt Alma, who just turned 100 years old on December 5th, 2020, has happily resided at Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe (Brandywine) in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for the past 6 years. Despite the lockdown of the facility due to the pandemic, Brandywine staff hosted a delightful, but small and responsible, birthday celebration for her while wearing face masks, exercising social distancing, and following proper sanitation. This facility’s low incidence of COVID-19 infection amongst its residents and staff is a strong testament to this facility’s conscientious adherence to national health experts’ guidelines on control and containment of the coronavirus. All of the employees at Brandywine (ranging from the on-site nurses, personal care aides, cooks, dining room servers, administrators, business office personnel, activity planners/facilitators, concierge desk workers, van drivers, housekeepers and building maintenance staff) are essential workers and health care heroes in the truest sense of the word. It requires the coordinated efforts of all of these different individuals to operate a well-run assisted living facility, especially when having to cope with the challenges caused by COVID-19. The long-term Executive Director, Donna Winegar, provides hands-on leadership, pitching in to help out staff, when needed. She and other staff have come to know each of the residents by name. The nurses, personal aides, and dining room servers are also knowledgeable about the individual care requirements of residents as well as their likes and dislikes. The concierge staff help to schedule residents’ medical appointments and the van drivers transport them to their appointments on time, which is particularly helpful to those residents in wheelchairs, like my aunt. The activity planners/facilitators help to keep residents’ mentally engaged and provide opportunities for social interaction through creative and entertaining ways. The housekeepers and building maintenance staff ensure that both residents’ rooms and all the common areas of the facility are clean and properly sanitized and that all structural or mechanical aspects of residents rooms (e.g., in the bathrooms or kitchenettes) or in the rest of the facility are in good condition or working order. The overall interior design, furnishings, and seasonal decoration of Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe makes this facility look warm, homey, and inviting. I am very grateful for the thoughtful and dedicated staff at Brandywine that provide my aunt both high-quality health care and personal assistance with daily living skills, which have enabled her to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
