Assisted Living for Veterans
“A state-of-the-art, affordable assisted living residence for older veterans and their spouses,” that is one of the first of its kind, featuring 103 studio and one-bedroom apartments.
Gus Keach-Longo, Vice President of Senior Services of the city’s Community Renewal Team (CRT) elaborates, saying:
“We are excited to be creating a new opportunity for older veterans to live in comfortable and beautiful surroundings while receiving the supports they need.” Veterans Landing will provide 103 handicap-accessible apartments, with:
- Computer lab
- Convenience store
- On-site medical and physical therapy services
- Recreation rooms and more
“Each Veteran will receive three meals a day and help with activities of daily living. The development will remain affordable for low- and moderate-income veterans,” Keach-Longo states.
The Future of Assisted Living for Senior Veterans
A veteran assisted living community is just one innovation in the senior living industry, which is growing to meet the demands of seniors looking for care and housing that fit their own interests and lifestyles.
But, it is an important development for veterans and the future of assisted living, as Nancy Pappas, Director of External Affairs with CRT, explains in the article:
“This is a new model of care that allows seniors to be comfortable and maintain independence and dignity. We thank the Veterans Administration for the opportunity to pioneer this project.”
