Moved Site Unseen- Very Happy!

My husband and I moved to Brightwater in 2013 site unseen. We had been living in Connecticut for many years and decided we would like a warmer climate and available medical options for my husband. Of great help to us, was Alice Yerkes. She helped us every step of the way and made our decision and move to such easier. Brightwater has numerous activities, the staff are great and always so very helpful. It is a wonderful community for retirement living "at its best". Since my husband passed away, I am so very happy that we made the decision to move to Brightwater and I have formed so many friendships.

Brightwater is one of the most beautiful continuing care retirement communities in the myrtle beach area. My wife and I were looking for crcc's in South Carolina and this one came highly recommended. We wanted a ccrc because they have all levels of care and that was important to us. It was easy to make a reservation with them and their representative was very helpful. It was refreshing to sit down and not be hounded by floor plans and amenities but rather a nice conversation about us and why we were making this move. They cared about us as people and that meant a lot. Ultimately, we decided to stay closer to our son, his wife and our grandchildren but if we hadn't decided to stay. We would be living at brightwater. Kudos to you and your team, very nice facility.

No Regrets

I moved here in October and was dealing with a health issue that kept me in my villa. Once I was feeling better in March and I started to participate with wellness & social activities the COVID19 stopped the regular schedules. Wellness & Activities have gotten very creative during this time to keep us active & engaged. They are helping us order groceries online and the Brightwater drivers are picking them up and deliver them directly to my villa. We are not able to eat in the dining during these restrictions, so the servers are delivering our meals with a smile and a surprise. I am looking forward to returning to “Normal” and getting to spend time with my family & friends again. All of our needs are being met without our health being jeopardized.

5 years ago when I was 70 yrs old, I was only concerned about financial planning for the future not where I wanted to live. I knew I didn’t want to go to a nursing home. I lived in a single family house in a retirement community and because of health issues, my family suggested Brightwater a continuum care community and I would be able to live independently. I was very surprised to find resort style life, I don’t have to cook or plan activities or run out to the gym, transportation is available, maintenance is taken care of and all of these are included. The day I came to tour with my daughter, everyone was smiling and welcoming and asking are you going to move here? I felt so warm & welcomed that I didn’t have to think about this. I feel healthier today than the day I moved in because I am able to keep my mind & body busy. I feel every effort is made to secure my safety. I have always enjoyed crafts and now I have classes to encourage me to try new medias. The dining experience feels like I am at the resort, specials every day or a full menu to select from. The presentation is beautiful and a smiling staff to serve us. We have the 101 club to enjoy a cocktail & snacks before dinner with my friends. We are all part of the Brightwater family.

Great place for a senior to live and enjoy life

My Aunt’s experiences at Brightwater are always pleasurable. The facilities at Brightwater are meticulously maintained and the staff is always nice, friendly, and willing to provide any assistance that may be needed. Before moving to Brightwater my aunt had been living all along in her home of 30 years in Little River, South Carolina. She had been reluctant to sell the house that her and her late husband had called home. After moving into Brightwater, it was as if a new wave of emergency and happiness had come upon her. She started making new friends and attending the regular social events planned by Brightwater. Additionally, she was able to enjoy her meals in the company of other lady friends she had made at Brightwater; instead of eating all along in her home. Brightwater provides shuttle service to her doctor’s appointments, and any prescriptions that are needed are either picked up by the Brightwater staff, or delivered to the front desk. When my Aunt and I reminisce about the past and her decision to move to Brightwater, we both always say the same thing; it was the best decision she had made.
