Solano Life House is a great Assisted Living Facility
reviewed on: 07/20/2017 by Dianna Coffmandcoffman361 July 16, 2017 I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident I visited several facilities before deciding on Solano Life House. The administrator, Mary and her staff are very welcoming and caring. From the first day, my mother has felt at home at Solano Life House. She has actually gotten better since she came to live at Solano Life House. Although she has only been here a short time, she interacts with everyone and the staff is very caring with her. She now goes on outings and there are scheduled activities that the residents do everyday with activity directors. I recommend this facility for anyone who is looking for a small facility with a caring staff who really care about their residents.
Best care...
reviewed on: 02/14/2020 by michelle sI had mistakenly moved my Mom into a corporate place that promised the moon but quickly found they could not deliver the care she needed. I needed to move her and fast! I toured Solano Life House, met the manager, Mary and many of the care staff. After the previous place, we were looking for anything negative before moving my Mom again... but we found nothing. My Mom had many problems from her stroke and had dementia setting in. Solano Life House knew exactly how to provide the best, supportive, loving care for her. They even taught ME how to better understand her illnesses. Most importantly Mary, Porter and the med techs. directed me to highly qualified medical professionals to address Mom's problems. I visited Mom a lot. Each time I would come, she was being loved on, talked to and engaged to her current capacity. It always surprised me to see the amount of teamwork that went on in order to provide the best love and care from the staff, not just for Mom, but for all the residents. There were many debilitated residents but I would see happy, smiling faces fully engaged with many activities. The food is truly home cooking and GOOD! One day my Mom had missed breakfast and lunch due to an illness. When she finally was ready to eat, I asked the kitchen for something mild, like soup, and the chef said she would make her some. I said to just open a can, like Campbells or something. She said, "that's not healthy! I will make her some chicken, vegetable soup. It will be ready in 45 minutes," and it was. By the time we got Mom up, she was eating her healthy, homemade soup! There are many outings for capable residents like Farmers markets, church, nail and hair salons. For others with difficulties, there are frequent visitations by kids from a nearby school, singers, entertainers, piano player etc. The staff also plans many events for the residents to participate in - for example, 4th of July, Taco night, Thanksgiving, just to name a few. The setting is as close to family as I could have found. When I left for the day, I knew my Mom was WELL taken care of! Unfortunately, Mom recently passed away. I came in several times after and received lots of hugs, along with tears from the staff. Several said to me, "Losing them is the hardest part of the job, because we love them too."

reviewed on: 02/25/2018 by Donna TaylorMy mom lived at Solano Life House for nearly 4 years and I was very pleased with our experience there. I originally placed her somewhere else and that was a HUGE mistake! Once moved to Solano LIfe House she began to feel safe, and eventually began to smile again. The care givers and other staff hugged her, joked with her, and genuinely cared for her and her happiness. As a family member I always watched how the staff cared for not just my mom but everyone living there. Their care and concern seemed to be consistent weather a family member was present or not. The facility manager Mary and General Manager Porter were always open to suggestions and very responsive as my mom's needs evolved. I highly recommend and have referred several friends to bring their family member to SLH. Actually three of them also placed loved ones at Solano Life House and are all very happy with their decision to do so. Placing my mom in a facility was the hardest thing I ever had to do but once at Solano Life House it was the best thing for my mom!
A lucky "right choice"
reviewed on: 09/07/2019 by AnonymousSolano Life House was a lucky "right choice" when my mother took a sudden turn into Alzheimer's. The staff welcomed her into their comforting and protective care, and over the years always justified my confidence. I'm grateful they were there for both of us.
