Good Choice
reviewed on: 03/08/2014 by CurmudgeonConvenient to bus lines; kosher kitchen provides A- Number One meals; many activities including Shabbat services in its own synagogue, shopping trips, frequent recent release films; cordial and helpful staff (we harmless old coots still enjoy being surrounded by lovely ladies). Glad I chose BHCRHS after I retired.
Good Community
reviewed on: 08/09/2013 by AnonymousI do like the community but there are things that we don't like about it. They told us they have a driver and transportation but they are funny about it. It is difficult to get them; you have to setup the right time and location ahead of time. Just seems like they make it hard to use. The food could also be better, it is a little bland and they could use more of a variation.
Like being on a cruise
reviewed on: 07/03/2013 by CathieWe chose Beverly Hills Carmel because it was just very warm; the residents, the staff and even the people that come clean the rooms are very sweet and welcoming. The meals are all home cooked and really taste good. The provide laundry, room cleaning, snacks, tea, library and just about anything else you are looking for. It is located on a kind of busy street but the trees block it out. The community has a central courtyard that provides a place to relax. The community has plenty of windows and provides lots of lighting. There is a sitting area in the community that has a really big window that you can just sit and look at trees. He chose to opt for the option that has two rooms together so he set it up as a living room in one and his bedroom in the other. He can open and close his window as he chooses. We feel like he is not in danger of hurting himself and they really give them the freedom to do as they want while still keeping an eye on him. The dining room and just everything is so pretty its kind of like being on a cruise. You don’t feel like it is a place you put someone in and feel bad about in fact we actually like to visit. We are very happy with Beverly Hills Carmel and would highly recommend it to anyone.
A Great Place for Mom
reviewed on: 05/03/2018 by JimAck1766I have just finished helping my mother, who is 92, move into Beverly Carmel South. You know the building is attractive and well-maintained ahead of time. You hope, first, that the staff will be caring, respectful and responsive. They are. It has been great seeing how nice and considerate everyone is. The household staff only come in to clean when residents are at meals or activities. Requests for repairs, assistance or information get an immediate and helpful response. Yesterday, at lunch, mother was the only person at her table, so staff members repeatedly came over and spent a little time talking with her so she could make conversation. When she mentioned a food she liked that wasn’t on the menu that day, the staff immediately prepared it and brought it to her. And, the food is good too. Meals are generous and well-prepared from quality ingredients. Mom was looking forward to trout for dinner last night. Also, if you don’t like what is planned, you can have your choice of three alternate entrees. This is a great place for assisted living! The residents are nice and generally pretty healthy. Many have invited mother to join in activities and everybody is friendly. She is enjoying exercise class and yoga while looking forward to playing bridge and bingo. All such facilities promise friendly people, good food and fun activities; Beverly Carmel really has all of this.
