Assisted Living Rules and Regulations in Colorado

Beginning a search for the best assisted living care for a senior loved one can be intimidating. States often provide assisted living records for consumers looking to ensure they find a safe and high quality home for loved ones. However, transparency and accessibility to these records vary from state to state. Learn more about finding assisted living records in Colorado.

Public Records and License Status

Colorado has highly transparent assisted living records and ranks in the top of 25% of states when it comes to accessibility of public records. To access records visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Facilities Comparison Tool. To view a list of licensed providers, choose “Facilities Directory”. To search for inspection information as well as enforcement action records select “Inspection and Occurrence Findings”.

Violations and Resident Protection

Colorado lists licensed assisted living communities as well as any inspections, complaints, survey results and violations online in a searchable form that is updated frequently. They also provide information about special licensing and the capacity for each facility. Payment types and administrator contact information are shown but the price of each facility is not. Inspections are only performed every two years, but the state does have the ability to fine facilities.
