Community Reviews

Homier than most

reviewed on: 05/17/2016 by Barbara

After visiting many "retirement homes", Seacrest definitely feels more homey than all of the other more institution style residencies. It's beautiful water view setting adds tremendously to its value as well as a strong sense of family amongst its attendants and workers and residents. Our unannounced visits are always met with an orderly, controlled environment, filling every need of the residents. I would definitely recommend Seacrest to anyone looking for that special place.

Considering placing your loved one

reviewed on: 02/18/2016 by Patricia

First it's important to note this is a "retirement "home not nursing home. Under state guidelines their may be very different guidelines depending where you live. Care is much different in retirement home as opposed to nursing home. Their are clear differences in medical and independent/ dependent needs of each loved one. So it's important to consider all when choosing. Remember you may need to move your loved one as decline or less independence occurres. Be ready to handle that should you need and take that into consideration when placing. When we toured this facility my mother was more independent, it looked beautiful and perfect. Food was excellent. Grounds impeccable! Could have used more activities For first year it was great but then found lack of activities, never taken outside. We knew when money ran out she would go to shared room but we found Once her money ran out she was shifted twice ( which for dementia is difficult) to rooms on much less desirable floor. After the second move , One night my sister in law called to talk to her mom then called me very upset stating she was not in her room and it was very late. We called and called and was told she must be there by staff. We then demanded they check and they found her asleep in a chair in front of tv in the front room. No one had gotten her for bedtime. This was very upsetting to the family. It's very difficult to know where to begin in placing a loved one in a facility. Our suggestions on any choosing ANY establishment for your loved one , is treat it as you would a putting infant in a daycare. Walk in different times check ALL floors. Check bathrooms for cleanliness and safety Check several different times for regular activities and wether they get out into the sun and fresh air. Request a copy of the contract prior to signing and read it well, or let a family attorney read it so you understand everything in the document. Upon signing up, request a complete copy of the signed contract and read it closely. ( do not sign and be told you will get a copy, obtain it like any other legal document , in full and at signing) And note how many pages in contract were retuned to you near your signature. Keep a private medical dr in the loop and have that family dr Ck your loved one every 6 mos at least. Monitor ANY added medications to your loved one and make sure your private medical doctor Was informed and agreed. With less independence ,We ended up moving our mom to a nursing home found much more personal care and activities which she required. She is very happy Each individual is different so you must consider your own loved one.

They are under staffed. I would not recommend this facility...

They are under staffed. They do not keep a good eye on their residents. Two ladies got into a fight and ended up in the hospital. Blood was all over the place. I had to get my mom out of it. There is nothing at this facility. I would not recommend it. My overall rating of the Seacrest Retirement Center is 1 star. My experience with them was very bad. Their care services lack. This is a 1 star facility.

Terrible experience

reviewed on: 11/27/2014 by Rebekah McMahon

The overall nice appearance of this place is NOT the reality the residents live in. The staff mock the patients. My father had fallen and had a broken hip joint and was in serious pain; instead of doing all they could to get him diagnosed and properly cared for, They talked about him, saying that when he gets hungry enough he will come down to eat. They taunted him saying to his face that he's "NOT Really in Pain" What kind of a place mistreats the elderly? I would visit and see residents walking around listless and unhappy. There are no activities for the residents (except for movie night), and the staff are markedly gossipy. My dad suffered physically and emotionally while at Seacrest. Thank God he is now safe in a different facility, cared for by a staff that loves the elderly.

Not a good place to put a loved one. Research everything on this Retirement Home and I mean dig deep!!! If you think you have no other options - you do.
