Safe, Laid Back, Low Traffic
reviewed on: 01/10/2017 by PamMy mother has been at Avery Place around 1 1/2 yrs. She is about to change to the memory care wing, as her Alzheimer's has progressed. It is the most reasonably priced memory care in the area. I am told that she will be able to live out her life there, as hospice can come in when needed. Avery place is located in a quaint little town where i can walk Mama to the P.O. across the street with no traffic. There is a large yard with pecans to pick. The doors lock, but if she did wander, she would be immediately found. You can visit whenever. I volunteer and drop in daily at various times, and have never seen anyone that was mistreated. If the staff sees that anyone needs anything, they attend to it. If you ask for anything, they attend to it. I have never heard of anyone ever having anything taken at the facility. They have fairly recently hired a dedicated chef, and the food is now tasty. There are meetings with the residents and chef to listen to their suggestions. There is plenty of room to chat with other residents in the common areas, or for those who prefer to stay in their rooms, they are pretty spacious, with two closets, and a heat lamp in the bathroom.

Response time when a call button is pushed has been 1-2 minutes. Usually two people show up to help my mother in law since she has parkinson's. She is getting better care than we could provide at home with sitters. They also love the food.

Safe loving living
reviewed on: 10/20/2016 by Patricia SalumWe toured the facility several months ago knowing the time to move my husband to a safe place was coming soon. 3 weeks later I called Avery Place to see if space was available and they had space. We signed papers 3 days later and moved him in 3 days later. The staff has been fabulous with the transition was very smooth and he has adjusted well. Residents do not stay in their rooms as there are activities every day for everyone and all meals r served in the large dining rooms. Food so far had been VERY good with nice size servings. Family and friends are always welcome 24 hours a day. The monthly cost is very reasonable for all the services offered. Our family would recommend the facility to anyone looking for a safe' secure and friendly place to move a loved one to stay.
