'Pleasantly confused' but thriving in Assisted Living

While we were aware her dementia was worsening and her vision was severely limited, we weren't sure if she needed the full-time intervention offered by memory care facilities or if she could function enough to enjoy simple assisted living. Now that she has been at Emeritus for over a month, she is settling in well attending functions and eating regularly. Being around others with less severe impairment seems to be beneficial, and the mood swings have decreased. Not to mention that the price is fantastic for the fine level of care. Very happy with our choice.
High Touch Caring Environment

The staff members there, from his caregivers to the front desk to the marketing staff, know his name and know many aspects of his life story. This facility is very “high touch.” My dad is continually in contact with other people there who care about his well-being. They know me and my husband and always seem to know what is going on in our lives, which tells me that they are taking the time to listen to my dad. We are very pleased with the care and support my dad is receiving at Brookdale and highly recommend it.
A Caring Community for My Parents

They previously lived in Florida, but my dad's health issues made it impossible for them to be on their own anymore. Long story short, it was a quick yet stressful move for everyone. I was very nervous about moving them to assisted living, and fully expected them to hate it. Yes, the first couple of weeks were rough. But to my surprise, they settled into a routine and began to enjoy their new home. My mom speaks highly of all the staff ("There's no Nurse Ratched here," she tells me constantly). They both enjoy the food. They love sitting in the little courtyard in the warmer weather. Pre-COVID they were pretty involved in activities, including church services, Bible study, a fitness group, and game nights. To say I was shocked at how well they settled in would be an understatement! I am very grateful we found Brookdale, and especially thankful for everyone there who works to make my parents' experience such a good one. It may not be the fanciest place, but almost everyone here is kind and caring and does their best to make it feel like home.
We cannot say enough good about these people.

I would go at different times, between the assisted living and the nursing side and there was nothing to complain about, ever. If you want to look hard enough maybe you could find something, but the way my mother was cared for, I don't see it. If there were issues I was called immediately. If I had to go somewhere they would be one of my top choices. The only downside is that they don't accept public pay assistance.

The staff has been very helpful in helping my mother get accommodated to the new environment. They really put in the effort to get her into all of the activities that they have available. So far I haven't heard any complaints bout the food, so I'm assuming its good. The place overall has been very good.
