Community Reviews
A good tour!
reviewed on: 04/03/2017 by AnonymousBickford of Overland Park was a nice community. The reason we did not choose it was because they mostly had studio apartments. We wanted a one bedroom. Everyone was very friendly and it was a good experience.
Jumbled Rooms
reviewed on: 12/05/2013 by CousinThis was the first place I saw. They talked a good game, but I didn't think it was very clean and I felt like what they were telling me was maybe-so. I didn't like the way the rooms were -pretty junky. It looked like no one really seemed to care how to they looked aesthetically. Stuff was just stacked in a corner. The room that I looked at was jumbled. If it was a smaller place and they had good personal care, that would have been great, but I didn't see none of that going on when I was there. They had a class going when I was leaving, but when I came nothing was happening. Activities probably happen, but not on any sort of regular basis. She wouldn't have been happy there. Too much stuff was out of place. I wouldn't want to live in a place like this!
Excellent staff!
reviewed on: 03/09/2016 by AnonymousThings are going swell and my mother is doing really well at Bickford of Overland Park. The staff is excellent! They just make everybody feel like they are at home. They go out of their way to help. They have residents who have been there longer pair with a new resident. They do a lot of activities, my mother is never in her room when I call anymore. They go on little field trips out of the place as well. The food I would rate a four and a half. They've struggled with keeping good kitchen staff.

reviewed on: 10/29/2013 by A Place For Mom CustomerVery dark inside. The main areas were not clean: soda cans and crumbs on the large dining table; food spilled on the menus; and an odor of urine when I came through the entrance. The staff was friendly and tried to accommodate my needs.
30 days and out
reviewed on: 11/15/2018 by Joan RiscoeMy aunt went to Bickford for a 30 day respite stay. She had been in skilled nursing for 12 weeks following a car crash and needed to get some strength back. We went in thinking she would be there 6 months or so, but she did not want to stay. She did rehab there and was able to move to independent living. She was promised a lot but was very disappointed and felt lied to. I believe they were not equipped to handle the care required for her injuries. For instance she was not supposed to get up without assistance and yet the general staff decided she could, even though the rehabilitation staff said no. We were there constantly checking up on her and did not feel comfortable letting her be alone. We also had medication issues that caused a lot of stress on the family. If your loved one can assist themselves it might be fine, but I do not recommend this facility if they need extra care.
