Memory care
reviewed on: 07/10/2015 by AnonymousWe started looking for memory care for my mom when my dad was in the hospital and no one was available to take care of her. I spoke with liz and setup a mutually convenient time to meet to take a tour. From start to finish the tour was great. The receptionist was helpful and friendly upon my arrival and was greeted by Liz and toured. I enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere in memory care, a real cozy home feeling. The unit looked clean and smelled nice. The apartments are a little small compared to some other we had seen but, I don't want mom in there all the time anyways. My brother and I met the memory care director, Brittney and she was amazing. Knowledgeable about dementia and care. She was one of the main reasons we choose Atria.
An excellent place for people who cannot totally take care of themselves to receive help and be social.
reviewed on: 09/08/2021 by Pam SIt's nice that they have their own apartments in assisted living. The washing machine is right there for them in their apartments, and they have their own outdoor areas. Housekeeping is provided. The staff have been really nice to my loved one. Activities have been a little slow due to Covid, but they're starting back up. They've had a band come in, and they've had happy hours and dancing. It took her a while to get used to it, but she's adjusting. The cost is high. Be prepared for different levels of care to be a large increase in monthly cost. But that being said, they're one of the cheapest places, especially considering she gets a whole apartment instead of just one room. And her mental health has improved tremendously since she's moved in. She doesn't need a lot of care at this point, but she gets the extra help that she needs and has the opportunity to be social. There are always people to talk to, and she can do as little or as much as she wants. That's a big plus.
Very nice place, great activities!
reviewed on: 05/10/2016 by AnonymousI've been very pleased with how things have turned out at Atria Stony Brook! It's a nice looking place, the people are friendly, and they've got a lot of good programs for the residents. I really like their activities, they work hard to keep the residents engaged and their minds active. I also think they do a good job with the food, every meal I've had there has been good!
Home Away From Home
reviewed on: 10/23/2020 by Mary Bowles-SmithMy mother resides at Atria Stoneybrook. She is treated quite well and enjoys staff attention & care. The apartment is reasonably attractive and efficient. The food, however, seems to have gone down in quality since resident confinement to rooms during COVID-19 pandemic. (I overheard several other residents besides my mother saying this when porch wasn’t allowed.) I would be more flexible but my mother is paying high rent for her assisted living apartment & services.
