Review of Birch Bay Retirement Village
reviewed on: 10/29/2020 by AnonymousGorgeous setting. Quality of food varies with chef. Chefs seem to last about two or three years. There are design problems in most apartments that cause unreachable shelves as well as storage problems. More activities are needed but space for them is severely limited. The staff is wonderful. The alter system for help is very good. Administration of rules and regulations to contain COVID-19 has been tough to live with but has been very effective.

Right Next to a Beautiful National Park
reviewed on: 09/30/2018 by younger residentBirch Bay Retirement Village borders Acadia National Park. This means there are myriad opportunities for hiking, bicycling, kayaking, snowshoeing, and just plain walks in the park. For less athletic residents, proximity to Acadia means opportunities for scenic drives, boat rides, and horse-drawn carriage rides to enjoy the spectacular scenery. There are also many dining possibilities and cultural experiences available in the town of Bar Harbor. Birch Bay's excellent maintenance crew takes care of gardening, snow removal, routine maintenance, and any special repairs, so that residents can spend more time doing the things they want to do.

Disappointed
reviewed on: 12/04/2015 by UnhappyWas great at first, but under staffed and a big turnover. Music is almost non existent now and for what they pay the food is unacceptable. Very disappointed at how it is going downhill.
