It is fourteen miles southeast of Alton near the Arkansas state line.Myrtle currently has several churches, a post office, public library, senior center, fire department, pre-owned auto dealership and bodyshop, a mechanic garage, small diner, a tavern, a popular convenience store, feed store, and a fertilizer and seed store.A pastoral, agricultural area, Myrtle is surrounded by grass pastures with cow/calf beef operations of varying size and many productive hay fields.
