Assisted Living Rules and Regulations in Nebraska

Finding a high quality assisted living community for yourself or your loved one can feel overwhelming. To help consumers find a quality home many state regulatory agencies offer unique access into the backgrounds and records of communities. However, how much each state reveals about communities online differs depending on the state. Here is a quick look at how to access assisted living records in Nebraska.

Public Records and License Status

Nebraska is open with assisted living records, ranking 26th among the states when it comes to transparency of such records. Their integrated and user-friendly website enables consumers to learn important, detailed information about potential assisted living communities.

To learn more about communities in Nebraska, visit Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services License Information Search and select “facility or service” as the search category. Then select “assisted living facility” as the “facility or service type”. From there, select the name of a community to learn more about its history of inspections, violations and complaints.

Violations and Resident Protection

Nebraska provides a searchable, current and accurate list of assisted living communities online. In the same online location the state provides access to inspections, complaints, survey results and violations. Nebraska provides information about special licensing for care and contact information for each community. They do not provide information regarding the capacity of each facility, the payment types accepted at the facility nor the price of the facility.
Nebraska mandates inspections be done every 60 months (5 years) and does have the ability to fine communities.
