Assisted Living Rules and Regulations in New Jersey

State regulatory agencies can be helpful in finding quality assisted care for yourself or a loved one. Many agencies provide public access into complaints, survey results, violations and inspections. However, the process of obtaining these records varies from state to state. Learn more about finding detailed information on assisted living communities in New Jersey.

Public Records and License Status

New Jersey is highly transparent when it comes to assisted living records. To find more information about an assisted living community visit New Jersey’s website to Search Licensed Facilities and Services. Select “long term care” facilities and services. After the results populate, click the name of a facility for more detailed information.

Violations and Resident Protection

New Jersey provides consumers with a list of searchable licensed assisted living communities online. In the same location, the state provides information about inspections, complaints, survey results and violations. All information appears to be updated within 90 days.

New Jersey also provides information about special licensing, a facility’s capacity, contact information for each facility and the payment types accepted at the facility. They do not provide pricing of a facility on their website.

New Jersey conducts inspections every 24 months and can fine facilities.
