They have a range of activities that the residents could engage in daily. The staff does a fantastic job keeping me informed and taking care of my loved one. I have no complaints about this community.
Nice but could be better
reviewed on: 03/24/2014 by AnonymousI do have to say that the staff was very nice and some truly stood out as going above and beyond . I was not pleased with the size of the memory care unit. The other areas are large and comfortable but the common/living area in memory care is small and in fact, there is not enough seating for the residents. Often, the staff has to bring in kitchen chairs and many residents cannot see the television due to lack of space. There is an atrium area that no one seems to use and could be better utilized for this space issue. Also, there are HUGE potholes in the entrance road. While I understand our winters cause this, it seems some temporary solution could be made. As the cost is $5000 per month, one would think it should be a little more upscale. In comparing other assisted living facilities, Orchard Heights, in my opinion, does have more assistance for those that need more care.
A tour for care

The staff were nice and my questions. were answered, I saw that there were activities that were offered. It is clean and well maintained. I would suggest other families take a tour to see if this will meet the needs of a loved one for good care and the value.
Simple requests and no communication
reviewed on: 05/04/2018 by LaurelSent my 90 yro demented grandfather to the psych ward at ECMC- never notified his wife (a few rooms away), or his children (this was an issue addressed prior) and ignored orders to send him to Lakeshore if he absolutely needed to be sent out. Dementia patients don’t belong in a psych ward, that’s what your facility is paid to deal with- ESPECIALLY ECMC. For $10,000 a month and “medical staff” they should know this. Proves that money can’t buy knowledgeable staff. Unfortunately, this is one of the “better” facilities. Do your research and don’t let them do this to your family member. Oh, and the LPN that screamed at him because he wasn’t getting dressed fast enough.... he has dementia, it’s frustrating for everyone. If you can’t handle go work somewhere else. I am a medical professional, so I’m not some random person who doesn’t know anything about this process or treatment. I would never treat your family members like this. All we asked for was communication- family lives close (3 miles away) and is always there. We had a few simple requests if they felt they couldn’t handle him- like not sending him to a psych unit that has violent psychs (again, I worked with people who went there because they were so dangerous).
