Review of Richmond Woods Retirement Residence - London, ON

reviewed on: 03/18/2016 by Anonymous

We met with Rebecca [Removed]...she was very good in first introducing herself and the talking to us about our mother. She seemed to try to connect with us on what we are looking for and was able to address our concerns in a very compassionate way. In walking around this community we had many opportunities to meeting with the residence and we able to find out what they thought about life on this property. Many of the residence are female widowers (80 5). PROS It had a lovely pool which would be suitable for my mothers needs. It was smaller than Longworth and so potentially easier for our Mother to maneuver around. When it comes to assisted living this is provided to the residence in a way where they are not cut off from the community. We found the hallways and the communal areas very welcoming and well distributed on both floors. We found the room layouts to be bright and welcoming. CONS There was concerns in how they handled payments for things since they preferred to have some services paid in cash or cheque. This would be challenging for my mother since she would be relying on payments coming from myself. However after giving them this feedback they have come back and provide a resolution to this issue. We were also concerned about the level of personal assistance they could give my mother in assisted living. Especially when she may not be as mobile as she needs to be when she first arrived. When we provide this feedback this too was addressed and a reasonable solution was proposed
