Community Reviews

I Liked The Executive Director

reviewed on: 09/13/2017 by Anonymous

I had a tour that I enjoyed and I liked the Executive Director, Bob, he was a wonderful person. They are a private pay community and found out that at the time there was only one man and the rest were women. My husband needed to be around more men.

Great looking memory care

We were just looking at the memory care section, the assisted living was not quite as great, it would rate at about a 4. The memory care section was wonderful, very nice looking, and everyone was very friendly. Unfortunately it was a bit more expensive than we were looking for, and they had no availability at the time we toured,

Took some time to sort out billing, but good caregivers

reviewed on: 10/03/2013 by John

I call Kristin, the district manager I guess, and she never calls back. When we started out she found a new girl, she worked in a hamburger joint but had her CNA, brand new I guess, we got her and she was a very pleasant little girl but they offered her some kind of manager position at the hamburger joint. So then we got a girl whose been taking care of a woman upstate, Jean is her name and Jean is a terrific woman, she has a lot of experience. We weren't sure about some scheduling and pay checks, we agreed to do it by month but she misunderstood that so she sent the whole shmear down to me from the beginning. I finally called district headquarters, I called Atlanta and they said "no problem, we'll send you a monthly bill" so just little things all added up. The biggest disappointment was that little girl going and reliability and the question of the billing; there wasn't any doubt it would all get sorted out but I don't have time to do all of that.

Guiding a parent to making a decision and acting on it.

reviewed on: 02/20/2016 by Deborah C.

I encouraged my mother to make her own decision. I wanted her to go to a different facility with more activities and fewer frail, sick residents. However, she chose to go closer "to home" and where she already had 2-3 friends. It took over five years of talking to come to a comfortable place in which to make the decision. Do NOT wait until there is NO time. I mistakenly thought she had noticed that the residents were more frail than she. Her first day in the facility, she confided that she did not realize there were so many "old" people. My mother is 90 but is thankfully very independent and still drives on country roads. The only space available to her when we HAD to move, due to the sell of her home and property, was a 2-room suite. I think having the 2 rooms will help her mentally and emotionally in making a transition It does cost more. We have agreed to give it 3 -4 months and then assess the situation. The staff agrees and has placed her in the dining room with other residents who are in good health. On the plus side: she is safe; she is not alone out in the country; she made her own decisions (with me doing the paper work); the staff is wonderful and kind; the facility is clean and pretty inside and outside; there is a resident dog and cat; she likes the exercise program; the facility is on one level; she must walk to activities and the dining room (thus keeping active) but it is not too far; and the staff communicates with kindness but one has to ask questions -- no newcomer orientation. Lastly, it is only 1 hour away for me.
