Essex is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, in the United States. The population was 19,587 at the 2010 census, with an estimated population of 20,724 in 2014. By population count, the town of Essex is the largest town in Vermont and the second-largest municipality (after Burlington). It is home to the village of Essex Junction, which includes the state of Vermont's busiest Amtrak station and the state's largest private employer, GlobalFoundries. Vermont Route 289 crosses the town from east to west.
