Westbrooke is a wonderful place for your loved one!

reviewed on: 12/08/2016 by Anonymous

I placed my husband at Westbrooke on November 29, 2016. So far, I am pretty much satisfied with how he is adapting to this very difficult transition. As far as the facility, itself, I am SO pleased ... the place is immaculately clean and attractively decorated. The staff is wonderful ... so friendly ... and helpful. The care is expensive but I've been assured it is the best available in this area. I am probably having a more difficult time adjusting than my husband. He was diagnosed with dementia in 2013 ... caring for him these past 3 1/2 years took a toll on my mental and physical health. I know I did the best I could, but feel very guilty for having to relinquish my duties to professionals. I am seeing a counselor and am under the care of my doctor for nerves and stress.

A good place to live

We chose Westbrooke Manor because the staff members were friendly. I took my husband with me to check it out and this is the place he chose. I think the room sizes are smaller than most places that we looked into. The food was very good, the chef accommodated his diet. The best part about the community would be that they really care about each other here. I would absolutely recommend it. It is a good value for your money. The only complaint was on weekends and at night there are no RNs on site.

My mom's care

I like this community for the great care that my mom is receiving. We like that the staff is caring and attentive to her needs. The variety of healthy meals is very appealing. She likes when they have live entertainment which is pleasing to the residents. We would highly recommend this community for the care of a loved one and a good value.

Terrible

I do not recommend putting your loved one at Westbrooke or Eastbrooke. My Mother was here. In my observation, the facility is poorly managed and residents receive poor care because of it. There are many promises made, but none are ever kept – including things like providing basic care and needs. The owner is never available for residents or family needs. She does not communicate with or train staff, and doesn’t know what she’s doing or what is going on in the facility. Residents do not receive any physical or cognitive activity. None. They are forced to sit all day/night in front of the TV or at tables in the dining room - with no interaction & no staff present to assist with needs. There is not adequate staff to care for resident needs. Basic daily needs are not met. Personal hygiene needs are not met. Housekeeping needs are not met.
