Great place for mom or loved one
reviewed on: 03/09/2021 by DonnaWe chose Karcher Esattes because my mom and aunt wanted the 2 bedroom apartment option and it was one of the only places that offered that. The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. The intake gal is a peach. Back in October, she came out to my moms house and sat down with us and brought all the pictures and brochures and showed us a slideshow. She made such an impression on my mom and aunt that they could not imagine going some place else without her there. They just started a couple of activities last week and she said she is really enjoying them. The reason the lower score is on the food is because they do not have a lot of variety and it is a lot of the same things served. Overall, I would absolutely recommend them to others looking.
Great place to live
reviewed on: 05/23/2019 by AprilMy dad lived in this facility for over four years. Most of his time was spent in Independent living. In the past year he spent about 3 weeks in skilled nursing and about four months in Assisted Living. It took several months for dad to adjust to the change, but my dad grew to love his time at Karcher. He made wonderful friends. He had a two bedroom apartment, so had plenty of space and lots of light. He loved the friendly staff. Skilled nursing was a little harder. He was needy when he first arrived and sometimes the staff didn’t arrive as quickly as he wanted, but they taught him to walk again and how to care for himself. He called it “physical torture” instead of physical therapy.😊 He then moved to assisted living. It was so nice that everything was done in the same building. His friends from independent living had easy access to checking on him. Assisted living took a little time to adjust to, after the years of independence. The aids administered his medication correctly and came when he called. The staff became his friends and he cared about them. At the time he passed away, they grieved with us. I am not saying everything was perfect. There were small issues here and there to deal with. But the staff and management were available and willing to work with us. They made things right. I do not regret placing my dad in this facility.
my experience during covid

concerned family member of resident
reviewed on: 02/12/2015 by AnonymousThe assisted living CNA staff are very caring and friendly. I never worked that my family member would be harmed or neglected. However they lack the appropriate training and supervision to safely care for residents with memory issues. It is a large assisted facilities with 3 CNA on duty in the evening hours. They have to rely on residents using the call button for assistance - this will not work with residents with short-term memory loss and falls are common as a result. I also have concerns with their lack of training in regards to how medication is administered to residents with memory issues - no instruction to remind the resident each time, and prescribed schedules of when to administered are not followed closely and can be missed altogether. The unit manager talks a good story when she is looking to make a placement into the facility but once the deal is closed, you feel it was more a sales pitch than a commitment. If you are looking for a comfortable place for your loved one to live and they do not need considerable oversight and care, then this might be a place for them (the CNAs really are friendly and caring.) If they have health issues or are prone to falls, I'd encourage you to keep searching.
NO CNA staff in assisted care
reviewed on: 08/17/2017 by interested partyRegarding post on CNS's There are NO CNA's in assisted living. They may tell you they are "aides". They are NOT CNA aides. The state of Idaho does not require assisted living to hire CNA aides. Too bad. There is a problem with attitude, integrity, knowledge of these "aides". I have been very disappointed in my encounters with most of this staff.
