An appreciation of Hillcrest
reviewed on: 12/07/2019 by PaulI simply cannot understand some of the other reviewers. The admissions person at Hillcrest was wonderful, and helped us when no one else could (we needed to be close to oxygen therapy). The nurse Gail was very competent, and the social workers were very very nice. They even had a flutist who came in weekly to entertain the residents - that was a pleasant treat. The grounds were very beautiful: Often times we'd see geese cruising in to the nearby pond. It was a lovely sight for my Mom, and there was a nature path to take her wheelchair on. Yeah, a few trees outside might need a trim, but on the whole the environment was one to be cherished. To those who took care of Lil, I thank you. Paul
Disappointed
reviewed on: 08/10/2016 by KayVery disappointed in this facility! It always seemed a little dirty with messy areas. Questioned if adequate attention and care was always provided in this memory care unit. There seemed to be mostly poor customer service, many attitudes, for the most part the staff seemed to be unhappy. Questioned if all resident (care) needs were always being met, there never seemed to have enough staff on. Many of the residents appeared to be bored/unstimulated, wondering around or sitting alone. The memory care unit main central area has been well decorated and has a large bird (closed) environment. A few great members of the nursing staff working in the unit, unfortunately, they aren't there 24/7. Do not recommend this facility.
Don’t place your loved one at Hillcrest
reviewed on: 11/25/2018 by AnonymousDon’t place your loved one here! Unskilled staff, dirty, filthy refrigerator in dining room. For a while there were ants on the counter, crawling up the wall and even in the microwave! 2 1/2 months of this place was too long! No follow up - We asked them to check our mother’s urine because it was cloudy and smelly. We heard nothing so assumed all was well. Then 6 weeks later, when I’m at the nurse ‘s station and ready to remove her from the facility, they finally called to find the lab results of the urine culture. Yes, indeed, the culture was positive and she had a bladder infection. Absolutely lack of care or attention and a bladder infection that went untreated from mid-October to end of November. She is a fall risk, but she and others, are left unattended and subsequent accidents (falls) have happened. We had to report one of the aides for elder abuse, which they did take seriously and filed a report. Hearing my mom cry out because the shower was too cold (and the shower door standing wide open) was more than I could bear for her. Of course, you’re lucky if there is any hot water in the evening to clean up at the sink. It’sworse than camping. Recently Mom was feeling unsafe and threatened by a tall male patient who would roam the halls and come into her room different times during the day and night - but they refused to let us her move to another room. — That did it. We packed her up then and there and brought her home. They try to keep patients in diapers, extended purée diets, limit their walking.....nothing to advance their skills but to retain them as a patient. I’m sure they need the revenue. Our family visited Mom daily to check on her care, despite our multiple complaints and meetings with nursing staff there was no improvement. If I had more space, I’d fill it in with more of our complaints and concerns.
Help! NONE at Hillcrest.
reviewed on: 11/12/2018 by Elizabeth JohnsonPatient request to get out of bed 5 times, told sorry staff could not do it. I'm a family member, listened to aide say he couldn't help, but was on the next day at 2PM so promised he'd get my son up then. I picked up cup of pills left on tray table by morning nurse, asked PM nurse why these weren't given. He took the cup and said that shouldn't happen and he would look into it. Needless to say heard nothing more! In fairness I think four/ five staff actually do their jobs. Now as far as being rehabilitation facility, NOT seen this. Therapist shows up when they feel like it, no schedule for the patient. In fact i haven't seen a therapist show up on a daily basis. Yes I want my son out of here as soon as possible, but no cooperation on how to get him to hospital. Fact is nursing director told us our insurance is refusing to pay as he isn't getting therapy. Nurse said he has to be out by tonight, it's our problem where he goes. DO NOT PUT YOUR FAMILY IN HERE.
don't do it
reviewed on: 10/24/2017 by anonymousguys. do not put your mother your father your dog there. this lady across from my mom -- she brought a BELL with her because the nurses don't respond to the call button. the lady next to my mom fell out of her bed and the lady with the BELL rang it until someone came to help her. it's a nightmare.
