Assisted Living Rules and Regulations in New Hampshire

Choosing the best assisted living community for yourself or a loved one can be stressful and feel overwhelming. Thankfully, many state regulatory agencies offer access to assisted living records allowing consumers to make an educated choice in senior care. However, public access to records is different depending on the state the facility is in. Learn more about accessibility and transparency of assisted living records in New Hampshire.

Public Records and License Status

New Hampshire offers moderate accessibility and transparency into assisted living records. Their new website allows consumers to confirm licensing and check some information on inspections but does not allow full access into the reports.

For basic information about a community, visit New Hampshire’s facility search form. This will allow you to view licensed providers and the dates of their inspections. To access more information, select “assisted living/residential care facility” as the license type and then select the community you are researching.
To learn more or to obtain records for a specific facility find your appropriate long-term-care ombudsmen at www.eldercare.gov or file a request through the Freedom of Information Act.

Violations and Resident Protection

New Hampshire provides a searchable and updated list of licensed assisted living communities online. They do not post information about inspections, complaints, survey results or violations but they do show information about special licensing for care at a facility. Additionally, New Hampshire does not include capacity information, payment type information, contact information nor the price of each facility online.

New Hampshire conducts inspections annually and can fine facilities for non-compliance.
