Happy at NewForest

We made the move to Independent living in November 2016 at age 96! Michael, Randy have been very good to work with. Maintenance is on top of things! We chose NewForest for location, close in town and near to Mom's church, pricing was competitive, and the general feel of the property. We have not been disappointed. She has made friends right away and enjoyed her stay in Independent living. Recently we saw the need to move to Assisted Living. We were fortunate that a unit became available. With just 29 units, the Assisted living building it is very much like home! Mom enjoys the food and friendships. The management of her medications, and daily care have been a big help with the move. I would recommend NewForest Estates as an option for anyone to seriously consider.

The atmosphere seemed like home for the them. I felt it was a good match for my parents. [Name removed] was very helpful in showing and making my parents feel at ease.

I am a baby boomer who recently made the transition from independent living (IL) to assisted living (AL) at Pacifica New Forest Estates in San Antonio, Texas. It was very difficult for me to admit that I couldn’t take care of myself. As a public relations professional for more than 50 years, I have always been very independent and self supporting. I am fortunate that New Forest Estates had an opening in their assisted-living facility. I moved here early in January and now wish that I had made the move MUCH sooner. The Spanish hacienda style AL building is homey and attractively decorated. The studio apartments are small (about 400 ft.²) but well designed for those of us who need a little something extra. There are large windows, a modest Galley Kitchen, with microwave and mini fridge provided. Plenty of built in storage is handy for kitchen and other items. Luxuriate in the walk-in shower, a part of the large fully outfitted bathroom, which comes equipped with a built-in seat, hand held sprayer, and plenty of grab bars. The closet is large and easily accessible.. AL has many types of activities, such as art, music and outings using the New Forest Estates handicapped-accessible bus.. There is a cozy dining room and several living areas complete with large televisions and a baby grand piano, as well as a library and craft room. The building is secure 27/7, with a professional always on duty. I like the staff here very much. They all work to make us comfortable and happy. I feel like I am part of an extended family. AL staff members include Marlene, Cathy, illyana, Janie, Diane, Jessica P, Erica, Hannah, Valerie, Jessica A, Julie, Francis, Lisa, Vanessa, Patricia, Matthew, and Desiree. We AL residents also have access to the large IL swimming pool area as well as an in-house beauty shop. It is a pet friendly facility, allowing cats, small leash-trained dogs, and birds. All meals, Housekeeping and laundry are included as part of the reasonable rent, along with cable TV. So-o-o, what are you waiting for? Long Happy Life
reviewed on: 10/23/2015 by Bessie SteenI just had my 104th Birthday Celebration at Pacifica @ NewForest Estates. It was a wonderful party! I received over 104 birthday cards from friends, managers and staff. I was overwhelmed with the party. I love living here! They are always checking on you to see if you are okay and if I need anything. Great service! I want to thank Brenda, Activities Director for the special work and detail she did for my birthday party. My friends are still talking about the event. I have lived here three and a half years now and I still continue to make new friends daily.
