Over the last few years, they began to “notice some distinct trends in the names of seniors” they’ve served, which inspired research into the most popular male and female names in assisted living.

APFM explains more about naming practices in the early 20th century and how traditions and values may have played a role in the popularity of names.
“During the first half of the 20th century, nearly 80% of babies were given a Top 200 name. Religious and family names were frequent choices…”

“But, the cultural revolution of the 1960s and 1970s brought with it a change in naming practices, as parents began to favor novelty and individuality.”
