Positive Experience

My Comfort Zone
reviewed on: 05/06/2016 by AnonymousA warm welcoming atmosphere. People are friendly as is the staff. How they can remember the name of someone they met in the morning and call them by name at dinner that evening or at breakfast the next morning is truly a wonderful experience. It makes you feel special.A little more planned activities in the evening after dinner would help in not making the evening seem so long.
My Mom Is So Happy, Here!
reviewed on: 05/07/2015 by IreneMy mom, who is 92, just became a resident at the Dominican Village in April. She had been residing at another place for 3 years. She is happier at Domincan Village; she says they are very friendly there and the staff is very caring and helpful to her. In the first two weeks, she used the emergency alert system that they have in place and was very pleased and impressed with the help that she received. Her apartment is a one bedroom and she is impressed with the large size and the layout. Since she is vision impaired, she needs a place that she can get around easily, once she learns the place. After only a few weeks there, she was able to find her way to the dining room, the Activities room, the Cafe, and Hair Salon by herself. She was a great cook, herself, before she had to give it up b/c of her failing eyesight. She tells me that the food served at Domincan Village is very good and plentiful. If she wants two desserts, she can have them! All in all, the Domican Village is an excellent place to live!
Loving the Village
reviewed on: 04/16/2015 by DeniseMy mother in law moved to Dominican Village 2 weeks ago. She personally considers herself a loaner and was unsure how she would adjust to living in an apartment type situation especially after being a homeowner for the last 60 years. SHE LOVES IT!!! Her exact words to me were "I didn't think I would like it as much as I do" that was on day 3. She is now there for almost 2 weeks and she is getting into the groove of things. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, the food is very good and healthy and she is enjoying the various activities they have throughout the day. My MIL thinks it's funny how everyone gossips and complains about things. Especially the washing machines on each floor. One is for dark colors the other for lights and if you make a mistake everyone finds out at meal time. My MIL now has the bounce back in her step and a smile on her face. I have not seen her this happy in years. In my opinion this is independent living at it's best, She is given 2 meals a day 6 days a week, they have shopping trips daily, Doctors on site weekly if she needs to make an appointment, light housekeeping, she is able to take care of her own laundry and come and go as she pleases. She is also given one of the life alert type necklaces to wear in case of an emergency. All in all we and she is VERY HAPPY!
Helpful and Courteous
reviewed on: 09/04/2015 by AnonymousThe Dominican Village is a very congenial place to be. The facility is run by the nuns and they are all very helpful and also very courteous to everyone. We found the atmosphere of the place to be very good there.
